Gen Asim Munir Engages in High-Level Talks with US Govt. ,Military Authorities

General Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), met with key officials from the United States Government and Military during his ongoing visit to the US, as stated by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a Friday announcement.

As per the army’s media wing, General Munir held discussions with US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, Deputy National Security Adviser Jonathan Finer, and Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Q Brown.

The meetings addressed matters of mutual interest, global and regional security concerns, and ongoing conflicts. Both parties expressed their commitment to sustaining engagement to explore potential avenues for bilateral collaboration in pursuit of shared goals.

In discussions with defense officials, cooperation in counter-terrorism and defense was identified as central to their collaboration. Both sides reaffirmed their intention to enhance interaction and explore opportunities to broaden mutually beneficial engagements.

COAS Munir emphasized the significance of understanding each other’s perspectives on regional security issues and developments affecting strategic stability in South Asia. Specifically, he underscored the importance of resolving the Kashmir Issue in accordance with international law and relevant UNSC resolutions.

Additionally, General Munir interacted with the Pakistani overseas community, praising their positive role in the country’s progress and development. Various topics were discussed during these interactions, and COAS appreciated the efforts of the Pakistani Diaspora. He encouraged them to invest through the Special Investment Facilitation Cell (SIFC), which has already shown success in various dimensions.

General Munir highlighted that the US is Pakistan’s largest export market, constituting 21.5% of total exports, and dispelled rumors about special screening, visa denials, and detentions.

The Army Chief acknowledged the high regard in which the Pakistani diaspora is held worldwide, considering them as ambassadors of Pakistan contributing significantly to the country in various domains. Members of the Pakistani community expressed pride in the role and contributions of the Pakistan Army to the well-being of Pakistan.

COAS extended good wishes to the entire Pakistani community in their endeavors. He also met with Mr. Tanweer Ahmed, who generously donated $9 million for the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in the field of IT development in Pakistan. General Munir appreciated his contribution, stating that Pakistan is proud of heroes like him, as quoted by ISPR.
