Power Tariff Expected to Rise by Rs4.66 per Unit

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed a request with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to raise the electricity tariff by Rs4.66 per unit.

NEPRA officials state that the CPPA is proposing the tariff hike in light of the fuel price adjustment for November.

A hearing on the petition is scheduled for December 27 at NEPRA. If approved, this adjustment is expected to impose an extra burden of Rs40 billion on consumers.

Authorities mention that the potential tariff increase, as per CPPA’s request, will not impact consumers of K-electric.
