Terrorist Attack Targets Former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar’s Residence in Lahore
Pakistan witnessed a disturbing escalation in terrorism as the residence of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar was attacked on Wednesday. Unidentified assailants reportedly threw hand grenades at the house located in the Garden Town area of Lahore.
At the time of the attack, Justice (retd) Nisar, aged 69, was present in his residence, and fortunately, no member of his family sustained injuries in the incident. The grenades were thrown from outside, landing in the garage and resulting in injuries to two police officers on duty. Authorities are actively investigating the matter, but as of now, no suspects have been apprehended.
In response to the attack, a significant police contingent swiftly arrived at the former Chief Justice’s residence, launching a thorough investigation. Notably, the absence of surveillance cameras in his house adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing probe.
Saqib Nisar served as Pakistan’s 25th Chief Justice from December 31, 2016, until January 17, 2019. The motive behind the attack on his residence remains a subject of investigation.
