LHC Bahawalpur Bench Takes Notice of Man’s Fatal Tiger Attack at Bahawalpur Zoo

Court Takes Notice of Fatal Tiger Attack at Bahawalpur Zoo, Orders Inquiry

Following the tragic incident where a young man lost his life in a tiger attack at Bahawalpur Zoo, a writ petition has been filed against the zoo management. The Lahore High Court Bahawalpur Bench has accepted the petition for hearing, citing allegations of indifference and inattention on the part of Sher Bagh Zoo administration.

The court has directed the zoo curator, Punjab chief secretary, and Bahawalpur RPO to submit a report within 15 days. Notices have been issued to the Punjab government, Punjab IG, zoo management, and related institutions.

The petition calls for a judicial inquiry to uncover facts and identify those responsible for the lack of legal action following the citizen’s death in the Tiger forest. It asserts that negligence in security and safety measures of the bird staff led to the tragic incident.

The petitioner urges a judicial commission to investigate the matter under judicial supervision, emphasizing that the inquiry committee established by Commissioner Bahawalpur has yet to submit any report. The petition also highlights concerns about residential houses being constructed within the zoo for wildlife employees.
