Sister of Imran Khan Affirms Family Members Will Not Contest Elections
“I will not contest the election, even if Imran Khan asks (me),” says Aleema Khan
Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has declared that neither she nor Imran Khan’s other sisters, including his wife, will contest the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8 next year. Speaking with journalists outside the Islamabad High Court, she made it clear that none of them would be participating in the elections.
In response to a question about her own potential candidacy, Aleema stated, “I will not contest the election, even if Imran Khan asks (me). I will not participate in the election.” She further emphasized that no other sister or Bushra Bibi (Imran Khan’s wife) would be entering the election fray, clarifying that they only attend cases related to the PTI founder.
Aleema also criticized Nawaz Sharif, the supremo of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), alleging that he had set up two of his umpires and was preventing players from entering the field. She expressed concern about the handling of the cipher case, suggesting that the trial’s pace indicated a potential death sentence by December 30. Despite expressing hope for justice from Allah and the Supreme Court, she indicated disappointment with the ongoing proceedings. Aleema concluded by stating that if justice was not obtained from the Supreme Court, they would seek it from Allah.
