Karachi’s Various Areas to Experience Gas Suspension Today

The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced on Wednesday that gas supply will be impacted in various areas of Karachi due to a damaged gas pipeline in Bath Island and Clifton.

According to the gas supply company’s X account, a 16-inch diameter gas pipeline in Bath Island, Clifton suffered damage, leading to a reduction or cessation of gas pressure in the affected pipeline that serves several localities around the Clifton area.

The areas expected to experience gas supply issues include different blocks and phases in Clifton, Gizri, Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Punjab Colony, Delhi Colony, Old City area, Mai Kolachi and surrounding areas, Bath Island, Sultanabad, Ziauddin Hospital, Dolmen Mall, Movenpick, Mariott, and PC hotels.

SSGC assured that its teams are on-site to conduct maintenance work, with the goal of completing the repairs by the following morning to resume gas supply at the earliest.

During the repair process, residents in the aforementioned areas may encounter disruptions in their gas supply, as stated by the gas company.

In a related development last week, SSGC had previously announced its plans to suspend gas supply to certain parts of Karachi. The company had informed the public that it would be undertaking a gas distribution infrastructure development task on December 24 (Sunday), leading to the temporary suspension of gas in specific areas.
