Imran Khan and Others Face Issuance of Arrest Warrants in May 9 Case

An anti-terrorism court has issued arrest warrants for the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, and other party leaders in connection with the May 9 incidents. The court summoned the PTI founder and other leaders on Thursday in relation to a case involving an attack and vandalism at the office of a sensitive institution, registered at the Civil Lines police station. Notable figures such as Fawad Chaudhry, Zartaj Gul, Shehbaz Gul, and others were named in the case.

Simultaneously, the district and sessions court in Islamabad is set to indict former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, along with his wife Bushra Bibi, in an alleged illegal Nikah case on January 10.
The written order, issued by Civil Judge Qudratullah on Thursday, specified the date for the indictment. The judge emphasized that the jail superintendent should ensure the implementation of the orders issued on December 22, considering the availability of space in the prison, as lawyers and media representatives are expected to attend. The Adiala Jail superintendent is tasked with determining the number of individuals present during the indictment proceedings. Copies of all relevant documents pertaining to the case will be provided to the accused, and the charges in the case are slated to be filed on January 10, 2024.
