CTD Confirms Killing of Terrorist Involved in ISI Faisalabad Office Attack
A terrorist, reportedly involved in the attack on the Inter Services Intelligence’s (ISI) Faisalabad office, has been killed in a shootout with the police, according to the Counter Terrorism Department. The deceased terrorist, identified as Ghazanfar Nadeem, was allegedly responsible for the killing of more than 50 people. His accomplice also lost his life in the exchange of gunfire.
The attack on the ISI and Military Intelligence office in Faisalabad occurred on March 8, 2011, when a car bomb exploded at a CNG station adjacent to the offices, resulting in the deaths of at least 34 people and injuring 90 others. The blast also destroyed around 35 vehicles and created a 10-foot deep crater at the site.
The Counter Terrorism Department conducted the operation in the Chiniot area based on intelligence information, where different explosive devices and modern equipment were discovered at the site. Ongoing efforts are in place to identify another terrorist killed in the operation.
Ghazanfar Nadeem, alias Khalid Habib, had a head bounty of Rs5 million and had been on the run since 2011. Officials stated that he was allegedly a mastermind of terrorism based on religious hatred.
