ECP Refutes Allegations of Offering Bat Symbol to PTI-P
The Election Commission of Pakistan has made it clear that the ‘baat’ symbol was not extended to members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party.
In a statement released during the evening of Monday, a representative from the ECP emphasized that the symbol had not been presented to PTI-P or any other political party.
Pervez Khattak of PTI-P asserted on Monday that he was offered the ‘bat’ symbol but opted not to accept it. However, he refrained from disclosing the identity of the individual or party making the offer.
Khattak further expressed that the significance of the election symbol was minimal to him, affirming that he would only participate in elections under the symbol of his choice.
Traditionally associated with PTI, the symbol had been rescinded recently due to the party’s failure to conduct intra-party elections in accordance with its own constitution.
