PPP’s Khosa Chooses to Join PTI on ‘Imran Khan’s Wish’
Latif Khosa is set to officially declare his decision imminently in a press conference. Sardar Latif Khosa, a discontented member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), announced on Sunday that he is aligning with the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) “at the request” of imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan.
“I have made this decision solely in the interest of the country and democracy,” he stated, expressing his commitment to vociferously advocate for the truth.
Khosa is anticipated to disclose this decision in an afternoon press conference today.
On September 22, PPP suspended the party membership of its senior leader and lawyer, Khosa, for not responding to a show-cause notice regarding the violation of party policy.
According to the party spokesperson, Secretary General Nayyar Bokhari also suspended Khosa’s membership in the Central Executive Committee (CEC).
On September 14, PPP issued a notice to Khosa for defending the leader of another political party, the PTI, without approval, questioning why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.
The notice highlighted that, as a member of the Central Executive Committee, Khosa defended a leader of another political party without prior leadership approval in corruption cases where he had been convicted and in a case against him under the Official Secrets Act. During a speech at a lawyers’ function, he criticized the state policy regarding cipher.
The notice specified that Khosa’s party membership would be terminated if there was no response within the given timeframe.
