Punjab CM Clarifies Decision on Extension of Winter Vacations for Students

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has hinted at the possibility of extending the winter vacation for educational institutions beyond January 9, 2024, due to severe weather conditions in the province. However, he clarified that no decision has been finalized, and any extension would be based on the recommendation of the education department.

The Chief Minister’s comments came after the Meteorological Office refuted claims of a cold snap affecting Pakistan. Winter vacations in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces have already been extended until January 9, considering the challenging winter conditions. Originally scheduled to end on December 31, there are speculations on social media about the potential for further extension.

During his visit to Lahore Zoo, Naqvi acknowledged the severe fog and weather conditions, indicating that an extension might be considered. However, he emphasized that the final decision would be made based on the education department’s recommendation.
