Scientists Report Successful Communication with Whales for a Duration of 20 Minutes
Scientists Allege Successful Communication with Whales for a Duration of 20 Minutes. It may sound like a scene from a speculative fiction film, but American researchers have achieved the feat of conversing with a whale after a 20-minute interaction with a whale in the U.S. state of Alaska.
As per media reports, a 38-year-old whale named Twain in Southeast Alaska actively responded to a pre-recorded ‘telephonic call’ and engaged in a ‘conversation’ with researchers from the SETI Institute and UC Davis.
The team of researchers emphasized that this marks the inaugural instance of whales and humans communicating in their respective languages. Experts also suggest that it sheds light on the potential to communicate with extraterrestrial beings in the future.
Scientists transmitted a distinctive welcome call, known as a whup/throp, underwater, prompting a whale to approach the boat and reciprocate with a welcome call of its own.
