Shadab Khan Expresses Support for Usman Khawaja
Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan expressed his support for Australia batter Usman Khawaja, who wore an armband to show solidarity with the people of Palestine. Shadab Khan praised Khawaja on social media, calling him an inspiration.
Usman Khawaja contested an ICC charge for wearing a black armband during the first Test against Pakistan. Initially, Khawaja wanted to wear shoes with messages supporting the Palestinian cause, but they were deemed in violation of ICC rules. The black armband, worn to honour deceased individuals, requires prior approval, which Khawaja claims he obtained by informing the ICC that it was for personal bereavement. Khawaja expressed confusion over the inconsistency in enforcing the rules.
