Shehbaz Misses Appearance at Faizabad Sit-in Inquiry Commission Hearing
ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, instead of attending the Inquiry Commission probing the Faizabad sit-in, has requested the commission to provide him with a questionnaire to respond to the specific inquiries, according to sources.
Shahbaz Sharif, who was the Chief Minister of Punjab during the sit-in, was called by the Inquiry Commission to provide his statement in person on January 3 (Wednesday). The Commission, in agreement with his request, has dispatched a 21-point questionnaire for him to answer within a limited timeframe, as per the sources.
Meanwhile, former Director of Inter Services Intelligence, Lieutenant General (R) Faiz Hameed, has been summoned twice by the Inquiry Commission but has not responded yet, the sources revealed. It is claimed that the commission is contemplating recording his statement via video link. The Commission is scheduled to submit its inquiry report on January 22, 2024.
