Transportation Costs Set to Decrease by 10% in Punjab

The interim administration emphasizes that the benefits of the reduced fuel prices must be passed on to the public.
In line with this directive, the Punjab Transport Department has opted to cut fares by 10%, with Lahore Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider and the Regional Transport Authority Secretary personally overseeing the implementation at various bus stands.

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has specifically assigned deputy commissioners the responsibility of lowering intercity transport fares. He has instructed them to take strict measures against transporters who fail to reduce prices by noon.

Presiding over a meeting, Chief Minister Naqvi emphasized, “The direct impact of the cut in fuel prices should reach the people.”

This decision follows the recent move by the caretaker government to reduce the price of petrol by Rs14 per liter and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs13.5 per liter for the next two weeks. The revised prices are now Rs267.34 for petrol and Rs276.21 for HSD.

Furthermore, the cost of kerosene oil has been reduced by Rs10.14 to Rs191.02 per liter, while the price of light diesel oil has seen a decrease of Rs11.29, now standing at Rs164.64 per liter.
